Work in Progress Wednesday #24

What have I accomplished in the past week in writing?

Umm...

Yeah, hasn't been the most productive week for me.

But there have been a few noteworthy things:

I entered into the latest contest over at Miss Snarks First Victim. The entries should go live tomorrow morning, and I will come back and leave a link to mine, but in the meantime you should be able to find me under Post #18. (UPDATE: Here's the link.)

This is different from the usual contests over there as this one is for query letters. I have actually been sending mine out for almost a month now (and have received four partial requests so far), but there is always room for improvement and I look forward to seeing what kind of suggestions and comments I receive.

I've also been thinking and stewing over my new WIP, which I plan to start writing as soon as this weekend! Over the past week I've figured out what my main character wants and a few of the things that are standing in her way, although I am sure more obstacles will crop up as I go along. Anyway, this means that next week the always fun word count meter should be back in action here on my WIP Wednesday posting.

And that's about it for me. Yeah, as I said at the top, it hasn't been the most productive week for me, but hopefully next week will be.

How was your week? I hope everyone got more accomplished than I did, and I would love to hear all about it.

  1. I'm excited to check out that contest and your entry! I've submitted to the Query Shark before and it really helped to have someone in the know take a crack at my query.

Yay for a new WIP too! It probably doesn't seem like you've done a lot, but the fact that you're working out motivations and obstacles is a big deal. It'll save you a lot of headache in the edits ;)

I finally finished my novella WIP, whew. Just a brief WIP Wednesday post for me this week.

  2. Sounds to me like you're chugging along verily.
    I'll check out your query.
And how exciting to start a new novel! I feel that is the easiest and somehow most satisfying writing to quantify, with the wordcount meter.
And congrats about your baby girl! (which you mentioned last week but I didn't comment.) How exciting!!

  6. Hey, congrats on the four requests! That's got to be super encouraging! Shows that you have something that's drawing attention! And sometimes between books, we need those down times where we can let the new ideas simmer, right? Then it makes it even more delicious when we start writing again!

  7. Good luck on the contest! It sounds like a good one. I am working on a new manuscript, too. I just started so I've only written about...one page :) But I started an outline and it's working!

  8. Congrats on getting into the contest! It's always fun to see what the agent (or in this case, assistant) says. Good luck with your partial submissions - and you're writing another book! You are made of awesome!
